As we’ve mentioned several times, our mission is to help you master the art of presentations! We’ll do this by walking you through the whole process, starting with the moment you create the slides until you get off the stage. This implies that we’re trying to cover various stages in the process: create, deliver and also engage.
Now we want to properly introduce a feature that will help you improve the way you interact with your audience during and after the presentation. It is called Audience Q&A.
There are various reasons why some audience questions remain unanswered: shyness, limited time, as well as their fear of actually asking the question.
Research conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health from the United States shows that 74% of people suffer from speech anxiety. Speech anxiety can overwhelm a person in many situations like meeting new people, delivering a presentation or only ask a question in front of other people.
While developing Niftio, improving the way the audience interacts with the presenter so that both parties can gain the most out of each interaction was one of the primary targets.
With the help of our Q&A feature, everyone can ask or send feedback to you in real time. And if you still don’t have enough time to answer all the questions, you can always access your feedback history and reply to everyone.
How to use it?
Your presentation slides are finally over; everything is in place, and you’re ready to deliver the presentation. But how about the Q&A Session?
Starting a Q&A session, it’s not a complicated process. All you have to do is to make sure that you enable the feedback session before you start to deliver the presentation to your audience. On the left side of the play section, you’ll find a sidebar containing two tabs: Audience Q&A and Smart Pointer.
The screenshots presented above show that there are two steps that you have to do to start a Q&A session for your presentation: enable it and share the link and pin. When you share the PIN for a presentation, basically you share a unique access code for that presentation. A questions and answers session is active for 48 hours so you can also get creative with the way you’re inviting your audience to join. For example, you can add the URL and the PIN on all your slides.
How does the audience interact?
Your audience will interact with you using their mobile devices or any internet connected device. Simply put, they will access app.niftio.com/feedback and fill in 3 fields: the name, email and the PIN provided by you.
Using the Audience Q&A session is as easy as using any chatting service such as Messenger. All they have to do is type in the question and hit send. Another thing that your audience can do is vote other people’s questions. By default, the questions appear in descending order, from the most voted question to the least.
Answer questions and access your feedback history
Your talk is over, and now it’s time to answer you audience’s questions. As we’ve mentioned before, all the questions that you received from your audience will appear in descending order. This way you can first answer the questions that are of interest for the majority of people. You can also sort the questions for the Q&A session alphabetically or chronologically.
Since this type of audience interaction is much friendlier to people that don’t like to be put on the stand, the audience interaction ratio may increase. Meaning that you may not have enough time to answer each and every one during the live session.
The good part is that every session is stored in your account and can easily be accessed later. In the ‘Presentations’ section of your account select the presentation you want to check the feedback for and click on the Q&A Tab. Here you’ll find the Q&A sessions for that particular presentation.
As you can see above, for every entry you’ll find the date it was submitted, the number of votes, who submitted that question and the email associated with that person. Keep in mind that the email field isn’t mandatory so the envelope icon will appear only for those who filled in this field.
So this is it. Everything you needed to know about the Audience Q&A feature. From now on you can start improving your Q&A sessions and your presentations as well.
